Site Changes, Notice & Updates
Notice: In the following month we might be offline for a few days. We could end up being offline for longer, upwards of a week or two unfortunatly. We will be doing some changes and what not, but rest assured we will return. This message will be removed upon completion.
Not many news articles have been posted in the past few months. We have however made some changes in regards to the site, and the addition of some pages & content.
I'll take this oppertunity to anounce some of the recent and unanounced changes:
And no, this site is not abandoned. There will be updates in the future from time to time. We have just been really buisy.
Regards ~ the CPC crew :-)

SliTaz - Smaller then Damn Small Linux
SliTaz Linux calls itself a 'micro distro' and that seems a good fit. Currently the entire stable LiveCD ISO image is aprox 24MBytes wich is accomplished by using work-arounds here and there. All your first tear commands are replaced with BusyBox.
SliTaz comes with firefox, IRC client etc.. etc.. all the stuff that you would imediatly need. If you have an older computer and are looking for something fast to run on it, or simply an alternative to Damn Small Linux, then give this a whirl.
Download it here Check out SliTaz's Site for more information

MIGHTY FAIL: GIMP 2.6.x
WHY GIMP 2.6.x is FAIL
Not to say GIMP 2.6 is all bad, but in this point release, the Cons out weigh the Pros.
Tool bar window, always on top (of everything, including your workspace) Layers window - also always on top of everything.
If you minimize your work-space window, GIMP keeps the other windows up and open. The only way to hide your Tool bar window and Layers window is to grab there title-bars and drag them off screen/out of the way. - No they cannot be minimized
Grand isn't it?
Also, it appears that instead of forcing the toolbar window and the layers-window to show above/on top of the other windows, that they (the developers) instead just set your workspace window to always be positioned behind other windows. What this means is that whatever window you open an image from, that window will still overlap your newly opened images workspace. Yes, be ready to minimize a few windows.
This all gets particularly frustrating when you change the size of your images resolution, and your workspace window re-sizes itself. You had your window layout alright a moment ago, but now you have to grab your workspaces title-bar and drag it over just to re-size your window back to a manageable size -- or to minimize it.
The window management GIMP had in the past was never great, it was tolerable. But why they went and butchered the tolerable window management is beyond me.
Maybe they are slowly progressing to something. That's fine. Ill just use GIMP 2.2 or 2.4 in the meantime while they (the developers) decide what they are doing.
Other things: As per usual, more bugs can be found.
What I would like to see in future versions of GIMP: I would like to see my toolbox and layers window snap to the edges of my screen, aswell I would like to have my work area snap to the other windows.
Auto-Save would be a nice feature too. I for one have had GIMP crash on me in Linux and Windows on a number of occasions.
Shortcut keys for a number of Layer operations, such as "Merge Down".
Over all, your productivity with GIMP 2.6.x is sure to go down slightly as you fumble about the disjointed interface. The problems might have you considering an alternative...
